ubr10K m-cmts DS speed limit

Forums:

Using ubr10K 12.2(33)SCF4 + PRE2 + 8 MC 5x20H-D + Wideband SPA + rfgw-1-d. Without DTI server.
The DS bonding group contains one DS from card 5x20 and seven from wideband SPA. The US bonding group contains two US from card DS 5x20.
Can't get more 120 Mbit/s speed in DS. Tried modems Cisco 3208G and Thomson THG571K.

Maybe there are some limitations with this configuration/equipment?

Required Attenuation Level

Forums:

We are working on a small headend that currently has both analog and digital video. This system has no fiber. The headend goes into a launch amp and then out to 3 LEs along the way. I assume we can input our CMTS signal into the combiner and provided the system is balanced correctly everything should fall into place from there out.

My question is how do we determine the attenuation required on our US and DS of the CMTS to come out of the combiner and into the launch amp at the right level?

We have a TPNA-1000 Meter.

Thanks,
Josh

Thomson MIBs (TWG870, THG570, etc)

Forums:

Can anyone send me the SNMP MIB files and maybe a sample MTA config (MGCP) for the Thomson / Technicolor TWG870 and THG570 / 571 modems?
If so, please mail me at: tomdecker77@gmail.com
Thanks a lot!

Delivering bandwidth to customers (docsis 2.0 qam 64) Small Municipality

Forums:

I work for a very very small municipality (500 catv subs and 130 internet subs) Until recently I was split between the water department and doing cable connects and internet installs. I have now been upgraded to working in the headend. I am not up on all the lingo and am Just trying to learn. We are currently using 2 ds channels and 4 us (qam16) channels to deliver internet to customers, we are still very much an analog system with about 64 catv channels on a 550mhz system. We currently only purchase 60mb of bandwidth from a provider.

Cisco cBR-8

Forums:

I am playing with a Cisco cBR-8, not live, in our lab, but soon to go live. I have modems working on it, but I'm not happy with a few things, the big one being below:
Its different enough to be annoying for me to have one problem that I can't figure out (so far!!)
Each linecard has 8 downstream ports and 16 upstream ports, so I figured I would use 2 upstream ports per downstream.
We do a fairly straightforward docsis environment, nothing trick at this time.

IPTV

Forums:

Just wanted to see if any smaller providers here were doing IPTV over the cmts. I believe static multicast is the correct term. I'm just interested in finding out what it would take to simulcast an analog lineup. Should be a mostly typical analog headend with some receivers having gig-e outputs and others only asi. Very new to this and very stumped. Is encryption required or does restricting access through the modem work well enough? Hardware wise what is involved in the headend and cpe. Middleware? Do you send out a single program stream per ip or multiple streams?

Docsis Load Balancing

Forums:

Anyone have a link that explains things a bit? The cisco docs (that I've found) are a mess. Seems cisco load balancing and docsis load balancing are inter-mingled together so much it's hard to tell what is required for one vs the other. Show run all helps a little I guess but only after you configure something can you see what is going on... Be nice to know what to configure in the first place! My google-fu hasn't turned up much on the subject either. Anyway, if anyone has a helpful link or two it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

cuckoo on the fm band

Forums:

Ok, it sounds funny, but anyone who's been doing cable tv from way back when... there was a signal generator that was put on the fm band, the pitch goes up and down. techs would listen for it when they drove around and would be able to find signal leakage. Wanted to know where I could one.

Thanks

BSR64000 running-config

Forums:

HI Folks,

Got sorted thanks to some help from Carl.
My last hurdle is figuring out how to handle PPPoE traffic.
The way our Arris CMTS is configured is the Modems which have PPPoE traffic behind them are on VLAN3 and the CMTS is set up as a bridge so its layer2 as far as the router on VLAN3 which sees the PPPoE discovers. The way I do this with Cisco uBR is configure as a LAC and a L2TP tunnel is brought up the the LNS. Whats the best way to do this with BSR64K?

I see reverences to vLANS and bridges on the CLI guide I have but not the config docs I have.
