Is there a way to trace all the provisionning sequence (dhcp, tftp, mta, etc..) from the CMTS ? or a tool to follow the differnt request from the cmts to the others device of the network and from the others device to the cmts (modem, mta, cpe ...).
How to do ?
And is there a document to be sure that anything is missing when a cmts configuration is finished ?
Have seen a few references to home grown php frontends for docsis-server here in the forum,
but no actual links to any resources for same. Anyone have anything worthwhile developed that
they would be willing to share? Webmin and phpMyAdmin just seem very klunky for simple tasks
like adding or modifying modems, etc. Many thanks in advance for any assistance.
I have a test bed with BSR64000 and Motorola SB6120 cable modems. The DHCP server is Cisco CNR 7.0 running on Solaris 10.0.When I checked the DHCP logs I am getting requests from Cable modem ,DHCP server is generating the configuration but DHCP offer is not reaching to cable modem.I used Wireshark to analyze the traffic ,what I noticed was, there was no DHCP offer packet being put on ethernet by DHCP server although application has generated the DHCP address.
Following are the details about my setup:
DHCP Server IP:10.255.8.130
I need Help to configure an ubrvxr7246 (12.3 21a BC3).

IP BUNDLE 1 for interface cable3/0
X.X.Y.1 public address scope for host internet
10.10.0.1 private address secondary scope for mta

Hi, I`m from argentina and want to set up my hfc network as described bellow, can you tell me if that it`s possible?
* Speed for internet access goes from 128 kbps to 512 kbps
* now the dream: it's possible to set up another speed for the local
network? ie: no speed limit or 1 mbps for internal ftp, gaming, or
any other transfers
1. If is possible, how to do it?
2. Where must set the second speed? (i was testing a ftp, but the
speed for transfers never pass the speed of the binary)
3. It is certain that there will need to add packet processing
I am having trouble (and have no idea except parsing DHCP server's log - but this seems to be too slow and buggy) with getting the CM's assigned IP address. I have DHCP server running on the same machine where the provisioning sw runs, IP addresses are assigned dynamically.
Some DHCP servers support only the RFC 4388 standard of lease query. If the DHCP server supports only the RFC 4388 standard, then you must configure the DHCP client to send a lease query according to the RFC 4388 standard.
