DOCSIS 2.0 BPI/BPI+ operation :
Static multicast => SAID is assigned in Auth-Reply
Dynamic Mcast (IGMP join) => SAID is assigned using “MAP request” and “Map Reply” messages
DOCSIS 3.0 BPI/BPI+ operation:
Static SAID => SAID is assigned in REG-RSP
Dynamic multicast => SAID is assigned using DBC-REQ
Kindly correct me if I am wrong. I have arrived at the above statements by going through the D3.0 spec
Could you please let me know why DSA, DSC and DSD messages are used?
I am getting confused ... please help ...
I would be helpful if you could direct me to some useful tutorials and documents
Thanks in advance ..
DSA, DSC and DSD in short DSX-Messages are used for dQoS. The d stands for dynamic. This its needed for handling dynamic ServiceFlows for VoIP-Services or other PacketCable/PacketCable Multimedia. This features exist since DOCSIS 1.1.
Are there realy DOCSIS 3.0 BPI/BPI+ Specs or is this to mixed up with the Security-Specs which is handling Early Authentification Encryption (EAE).
Blame on me, i haven't read the full specs, yet.

wittmann
P.S. Sorry for my poor english ;)
In DOCSIS 3.0 Security spec, they have spoken about DSX messages .. So, are thse DSX messages any way related to multicast traffic?
Thanks in advance
