Arris C4 licence model questions ...

Forums:

Hello,

We are looking to buy a Arris C4 or C4-C ...
But we have questions regarding Arris licence model.

Resellers want to sell us a "starting kit" with 16D+12U CAMs.

What is not clear for us in the Arris brochure is if the software licence cost is for each upstream/downstream channel o for each downstream/upstream CAM and if all extra features like Diffserv, VLAN, OSPF and BGP are available with any restrictions (per interface, per use,...)

With Arris C3 you can only create 2 VLANs with standard software and OSPF is limited to one interface for each licence ..

How cable modems chooses upstreams

Forums:

Hi,
Can someone explain how cable modems chooses upstreams?

Say I have 2 logical channels on an upstream port, the first with 10dB SNR threshold, the other 20dB. If the upstream have 30dB SNR or more, modems are all using the 10dB. Why any of them not using the speedier modulation on 20dB?

packet loss on FastEthernet intreface

Forums:

I need help to diagnose and solve a problem with packet loss on FastEthernet interface on UBR7246 (not VXR).
When I ping this interface in way that simulates VoIP traffic (every 20 ms packet size of 350 bytes) between 5 and 30 packets of 1000 are lost.
Number of lost packets correlates with traffic through CMTS. For instance, if I shutdown cable interface, and thus eliminating traffic, there is no loss. On the other hand, even small traffic, eg. 1 MBit/s, causes packet loss.
Such loss doesn't make any trouble for internet users but has severe impact on telephone users.

firmware question

Forums:

Hello,

Do the Arris TM402, TM502 and TM602 series EMTAs all take the same firmware? I have the latest (TS 6.1.77 DOCSIS - PacketCable SIP
Oct 30, 2009) I have only one TM602G and it refuses to take the firmware. I'm wondering if it is just bad because it's my only one.

Thanks,
Eric

Docs (and maybe new firmware) for Motorola SBV5121E

Forums:

Hello

We use Motorola SBV5121E with SBV5121E-SIP-1.0.4-SCM-01-SHPC firmware. But the documentation we have received along with this version of software is very incomplete.

I would like to ask - maybe somebody can provide documentation describing the configuration (MIBs, snmp options, configs), both - the modem and the voip part (CM and eMTA).
And maybe some new firmware?

Sorry for my poor english :-)

DHCPD mixing CPE users

Forums:

hey all,

long time no talk. I have weird problems, my cmts1 and cmts2 CPE equipment gets stupid. I have situation as follows:

subnet 10.10.0.0 - for dhcpd server,
subnet 10.11.0.0/24 - for CMTS1 cable modems,
subnet 10.12.0.0/24 - for CMTS2 cable modems,
subnet 100.100.0.0/24 - for CMTS1 users (CPE),
subnet 100.200.0.0/24 - for CMTS2 users (CPE).

actual setup is like:
subnet 100.100.0.0 netmask 255.255.254.0 {
pool {
always-broadcast on;
range 100.100.0.11 100.100.1.254;
option routers 100.100.0.10;
option broadcast-address 100.100.1.255;
