We have integrated Thomson Cable Modems THG541. Our Customers use the VoIP with Telephones and also Fax Machines.
Our Customers encounter problems with sending FAX over the cable modem. Receive FAX is not a problem.
We also have Fritzbox 6360 in our Network, here we do not have problems with sending and receiving FAX with this type.
I compared the config files between Fritzbox 6360 and THG541 and don't see any different configuration.
I'm working on setting up a cmts lab a cisco ubr7246 and using isc dhcpd 4.1.1 on centos 6.x with some Arris TM602g cable modems and I'm having some trouble with the cable modems acknowledging their dhcp offer and then configuring.
The modems will get a dhcp discover to the dhcpd server and the dhcpd server will do a dhcp offer, but the modem doesn't seem to like the dhcp offer options.
The ubr7246 has the ip address 192.168.0.1 with ip addresses for the CM's and CPE's on a interface bundle with 10.0.0.1 for the CM's and 172.16.0.1 for the CPE's
There is two Cisco CMTS: one 7246, and another 10012.
Cisco 10012 case:
When one modem goes offline, then this CMTS immediately delete the
CPE IP address from the own CPE database. -> this is Bad
(If i run 'show cable modem aaaa.bbbb.cccc' then i see that NumCPE is reset to 0)
Hello all
I have a CMTS 1000 and I have noticed a security vulnerability. If I configure an appropriate ip address statically on a CPE device connected to a authenticated modem I can grab network access. Long story short this is an issue because I want the CPE devices to only get a ip address from the ip pool configured in the dhcpd server.
This may help you understand
Router
Ip address primary 10.0.0.1/24 (Modem Pool)
Ip address secondary 172.16.0.1/24 (CPE Pool)
Is the FE1 (ethernet) management port on the back controlled in an "Off"/"On" state through configuration, or is it always "On", illuminating similar to FE0? Further, what does the FE1 ethernet cable ideally connect to? The FE1 port I have doesn't illuminate/blink.
Hello my CMTS: motorola bsr 2000 works fine but the problem is that i need to send telnet command for wake up port:
interface cable 0/0
shut
no shut, every time I restart it or unplug it from power source.
My question is does any idea to setup cmts make startup execute this command?
I was wondering which is the best way to retreive information from a CM whether configuring remote-query or making manual scripts to poll information directly from the CMs.
Does someone know which is the recommended amount of CMs per CMTS you should consider a maximum limit to remote-query for 30 seconds poll intervals?
