We have purchased a used Arris 1000 CMTS via internet, but when we turned it on, it was loaded with other settings than default.
Default username and password are not accepted, neither via console or telnet access.
I have contacted the company that sold it to us, but all they know is that it was a device bought from somebody else.
Since I do not have console access, and it is too expensive to ship the unit back to the USA from here, can anybody tell me if there is any way to reset the device back to factory settings other than through console access ?
Not needed anymore, I remembered the bootstrap access parameters.
I will write it down, if anybody has the same problem.
Works on Arris 1000 CMTS.
1. Poweroff the device
2. Press and hold the Up and Select buttons.
3. While holding Up and Select buttons power on device.
4. Continue holding the buttons untill Power ON diag text shows on the LED screen.
5. Access the device via serial port, 9600 baud, 8n1, no flow control.
6. Follow the on screen instructions.
