Anyone using the C2200 or other CASA products - could you please share with us your use case and how well does CASA do the job? Does it work reliably, are there software bugs, is documentation detailed and correct, etc. etc.
Any info highly appreciated.
Hi,
Currently we are using few C2200, C3200 and one C10200, all with 5.2 software.
C2200 up to 2500 cable modems, C3200 32/32 with 5200 CM, uptime > 240 days.
Actually its the first CMTS on which I have no problem with the D3.0.

Hi Darek,
what kind of 'routing' protocolls you are using? Only static routing or OSPF, BGP aso.?

wittmann
P.S. Sorry for my poor english ;)
Hi wittmann,
Static and OSPF, depends of customer. BGP is supported only in s/w 5.4

Hi Darek
running very small system with about a dozen modems with the 2200 cmts and find that it's faster when just the first downstream is enabled. all docsis 3.0 modems, but with four channel downstream bonding the speeds drop, and when I check the utilization stays it's mostly on the 1st downstream and not much of any throughput from the others. all private network. configured with 4 downstream and 3 6.4 wide upstream channels. get faster on upstream than downstream with all channels on.
have you run into this? is there a trick to load balance across all the downstreams and get higher speeds?
ftp downstream with 1 channel gets me around 19 Mbps. 4 channels downstreams drops to around 3 Mbps. 3 channel upstream has been fine with around 30 Mbps
any thoughts why it would be slower when doing 4 channel bonding and tweak to get 80 Mbps downstream speeds?
Thank you in advance
Carl
Hi Carl,
What software release is actually loaded in your cmts ? Recommends 5.2.47b.
Could you send me:
#show cable modem bonding
#show cable modem verbose
and show run please.
What kind of CM3.0 are you using ?
Please answer to my private because of vacation time: sp5rcu at gmail dot com

Hi Darek,
We try to install Casa10K to live network, but the CMTS is (sometimes only 1 DS or US card, or the whole device) frozen, only the reset help :(. We use ~6000 CMs, some of them Emta (~2500) on Casa 10K. The support tell us, have problem with the communication between the CMTS and DHCP server. The CMTS get too many message from the DHCP server, and it makes buffer overflow (got an error message on the terminal: "Neighbor table overflow").
At the moment we testing the CMTS (not live network :) ). Have you got any problem with Casa10K and DHCP server? We use ISC DHCP server under RedHat Linux.

Sorry for my bad english.

Gyu,
My recommendation is SMM Rel 5.2, its stable and working release for today.
My customers are using different types of servers on Linux or FreeBSD as well without any problems.

Hi Darek,
As I know, the Casa recommend 5.4 release for the C10200. Have in 5.2 release US, DS channel bonding?
Regards,
Gyu
Hi Gyu,
yes, its working in 5.2 too.

Darek
Thanks, Darek.
Casa says, if you use C10200 with 32US(16 physical port, 2US/port) card, then you have to use 5.4.xx sw. We currently do test the 5.2.49 sw on one C3200 (~1500CM) and we haven't got any problem with 5.2.49 sw.
Regars,
Gyu
one of our customers use C2200 with 3500 CM running.
no problem with d3.0 out-of-box but we have some remote-query issue (performance problem with is under investigation by vendor).
Yes, its true , RQ oids are removed in the newest 5.2 release because of performance problem
Works fine in 5.4
