UGS , UGS-AD

Hello,

I have a strange problem. Only one type of DOCSIS 2.0 modem (SVG1501) does create dynamic telephony flows USG-AD and the flow when the call is on has voice drops. I see that the UGS-AD flow does not reach more then 30 kbps. I dont know why?

I would assume that your

I would assume that your cable modem (SVG1501) use a different voice codec. Maybe G.729 instead of G.711. The G.729 codec did have a lower bitrate and use silent suppression (afaik). This would explain your lower bitrate of maximum 30kbps. If you change the behavior for the eMTA's codec from G.729 to G.711 you should have UGS instead UGS-AD and also the voice quality should be better. Many years ago I was not happy with voice codecs which using silent suppression because there was a nasty effect between low bitrate (silent suppression) and the change to high bitrate (voice active). There might be a TLV Liste available to change the codec from the eMTA. Unfortunately I didn't have one anymore.
