UBR 7246 with MC28U

Hi all,

We got a new CMTS with MC28U with two downstream ports and due to scarcity of downstream frequency we need to use only one downstream port for all 8 Upstream ports. Is there any way to do it. Till now, we only 4 upstream ports up at time.

Sorry, I don't know about the cmts model you've mentioned. but the answer would seem basic.
the thought would be to feed half the downstreams with one of the downstream ports and use the same frequency for the other downstream for the other half of the system. the head end tech would need to do some wiring. would be a sort of narrow casting. as the number of subscribers increases, you would need to keep adding downstreams. it will because an issue to manage the modems unless you separate the downstream feeds. you do that with the upstreams now. just wire it so downstream A feeds upstreams 1,2,3 and 4. while the second downstream feeds upstreams 5,6,7 and 8 for example.
Just a thought....

Shutdown hole card- best

Shutdown hole card- best default config for it.
Now
int cable x/0
cable upstream max-ports 8

and configure 8 upstram and downstream.
You are setup and ready to go!
Oh better try that on 12.2.33 SC tree of IOS don't know how it looks at the older version.
Good luck.

No Downstream

Hi,
I am changin the old CMTS BSR-1000 to ubr7246 Version 12.3(23)BC10, MC28U. My problem is that the downstream is not redeable for the CM, and the lab is working, because with BSR-1000 the CM gets online.
Is there any special configuration that i am not considere?.
Thanks in advance.
