Hi there,
I am working as a CM reseller and I was asked by one of my customers to create the CM + MTA provisionning configuration file for our CM (Scientific Atlanta EPC2203) to work on their CMTS platform (Terayon BW32xx).
While establishing the configuration, I discovered something quite weird about the Terayon BW32xx: If I create 2 static DS service flows (1 for Internet traffic and 1 with associated DS classifiers for the VoIP signalling) with 2 static US service flows, the CM will never fully complete its registration!!! If I only configure 1 static DS service flow, but 2 static US service flows, the CM fully registers.
This is the first time I see such a behavior. 2 static DS + 2 static US service flows work properly on Cisco uBR CMTS, as well as on Motorola BSR CMTS. My initial configuration was tested and working under these environments. As I am not operating this Terayon CMTS, neither I have any experience on this type of equipment, is there anybody here who can tell me:
- If this is a Terayon limitation (in that case it would mean Terayon was not Docsis 1.1 and 2.0 compliant ?!?)
- If this is a Terayon misconfiguration (how to fix it?).
- If there is any way to let the Terayon accept a registering CM configured to get 2 static DS + 2 static US.
- Is there any other way to prioritize the VoIP signaling on the DS than configuring it in the CM configuration file.
Thanks for sharing your feedback and experience.
