Hi,
I would like to telnet a Arris CM550B modem, and i added the following oids to my modem config:
SnmpMibObject arrisCmDevTelnetEnable.0 Integer 1;
SnmpMibObject arrisCmDevTelnetAllow.0 Integer 1;
SnmpMibObject arrisCmDevSinglePasswd.0 String "xxx" ;
But the modem answer is:
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused.
I tried with TM601B, but the result is the same, conneccion refused.
What is missing, or what could be wrong?
Oops, I see that there is two types of firmware-image, one with no telnet and second with telnet access.
Meaningless.
Both versions can do telnet, the difference is the telnet_on version has telnet enabled by default.
I believe the telnet_on version is intended mainly for lab use, not production networks. I guess that having telnet enabled on every modem is considered a security risk.
We use the version with telnet off, and if we need to telnet to do some troubleshooting, we would enable it via the modem's web page. (It is sort of hidden, not sure if I should post the procedure here. You can probably find the info in the Arris documentation.)
