Questions on MIB object 'docsifcmstatusresets'

Hi,

I am trying to understand how the MIB 'docsifcmstatusresets' work. When I looked at this MIB property it has a description as 'Number of times the CM reset or initialized this interface'.

This is how I tested to see if the MIB 'docsifcmstatusresets' increments its counter with each reboot:-

1. I rebooted my cable modem through the MIB object 'docsdevresetnow'.

2. Then I checked the value of 'docsifcmstatusresets'. The value was zero.

3. I repeated step 1 few times and I found that the value of the 'docsifcmstatusresets' remained zero.

Can anyone please expalin me what this MIB object 'docsifcmstatusresets' actually mean?

Under what circumstances does it increments its value?

I would appreciate your response!

Thanks,
newbie

resets due to lost sync?

Hello,
It's my understanding that these are modem generated resets due to lost sync events. Manually sending a reset does not seem to increment the counter. Verify by removing RF for a couple of minutes, then reconnect.

Yes that worked. When I disconnected the HFC, based on the number of times the modem tried to reinitialize the MAC, the 'docsifcmstatusresets' counter incremented accordingly.
