Ping/ThroughPut Test - To CMTS from Cable Modem Ethernet Port

I have a CMTS with CMTS I.P at 10.10.0.1 .
The primary gateway I.P Address is 10.10.4.1 255.255.255.0
The secondary gateway I.P Address is 10.10.8.1 255.255.255.0

I have Arris, SMC and Motorola Gateways and Non-Gateways.
Using the gateway as an example.
For one of the Arris modems, I hook up an Ethernet cable to a PC. The local I.P Adresss of the Ethernet Port on computer is 10.0.0.100 and the local I.P address of the modem is at 10.0.0.1. These are according to modem manufacturer settings. The modem itself gets secondary I.P of 10.10.8.143
I need to do a throughput test from the local computer I.P (10.0.0.100) and the CMTS IP which is at 10.10.0.1. I need to be able to ping 10.10.0.1 or 10.10.8.1 from 10.0.0.100.
I need to do the same for the non-gateway

How can i set this up? I am a beginner with CMTS so if you can provide some detailed instructions, I would appreciate it.

Thanks
Jobin Thomas
