Good idea. Unfortunately I've never heard about a cable modem emulator. The question is for what do you want the cable modem emulator? To simulate high cable modem load at the CMTS?
The problem is, if you have a machine which is capable to simulate a high count of cable modems, you cannot be aware that the simulated cable modems have the same behavior (e.g. bugs) like real cable modems :(
Hey- Correct. It is to place a high load on the CMTS and create contention, cpe traffic, general stress. Mainly to test services on the CMTS such as LB, dynamic modulation, channel width, aDSG, classifers, etc .. I don't care about modem bugs-- That's a different team :) I just care about the CMTS.
