I need to replace a module on a Casa Systems C40G CMTS. I'm currently using a US16x4 upstream module and I want to hot-swap it with a US16x8 module.
Has anyone done this before?
Is hot-swapping supported for this type of module?
Will the CMTS automatically load the existing upstream configuration, or will I need to reconfigure everything manually?
Roughly how long does the US16x8 module take to fully boot and become operational?
Recommendations before doing the swap?
I'm trying to determine the best time of day to perform this with minimal impact.

you can hot swap but usually recommended to do a full chassis reboot.
If you do hot swap and put the US card in same slot as old 16x4
ha replace linecard with UPS16x8
the card should take about 5-10m to boot and be operational
Thanks for the info! One more question: when swapping the upstream module (US16x4 → US16x8), does the new card automatically inherit the logical port configuration from the previous one, or do I need to reconfigure those manually?
If you power off the chassis put the 16x8 card in same slot as previous 16x4 card and power on the chassis the same config should carry over. If you hot swap the card while the chassis is running and run the HA replace command, it will likely wipe out all the previous config, and require re-applying it. Which is why I always recommend rebooting chassis for card swaps.
