Looking at items like Pathtrak, which requires $ setup, equipment, etc.
Also looking at Zcorum
http://www.zcorum.com/solutions/broadband-diagnostics/remote-spectrum/mo...
This uses modems as probes to send information back for reverse spectrum analysys.
Have not been able to find software that is free in this same vein.
Does it exist?
Thanks.
Hi,
not sure if it is what you are looking for, but I have doing some development of a CMTS monitor during my free weekends. It includes the remote capture of modems with FBC support. The web site is not being updated for some time, but the app is ok. Check it out at www.msarmento.com.br.
Hope it helps.

Are you using yours with RX48's?
No.
I don´t have access to a chassis with this board. The SPEC of RX48 says it is supported, but I don´t know if it compatible with the 2x8 spectrum.
If you decide to try it, let me know about the results.

Emailed you.
Absolutely love this program. Its given me far more insight into our system than any of the other software we're using.
Only shortfall I'm seeing is that I can't directly copy the data over to excel to organize it and match the pre-eq data to the modems.
There a way around that? Easy change to the manifest or applications file that I could do?
edit:
Also want to share that this is working just fine with our RX48 card.
The reverse spectrum still eludes me.
Do you have it working on RX48's?
It is working for me on the few 2x8 cards remaining, but those are getting phased out. Not sure if there's something missing in my config, or an SNMP option I need to add in. Am I missing perhaps a specific community? Already have the rw up.
If you look at downstream spectrum and for compatible modem you should find an http expert interface that display the spectrum.
I have to be honest. You lost me.
If I remember correct the new Broadcom based cable modems holds a special website available under http://192.168.100.1:8080 or the external IP (http://IP:8080) if they is reachable from your NOC. Under this side there you'll find a reference implementation from Broadcom for the spectrum view.
It could be that this site is password protected but I don't know the password right know.
Thanks for the insight.
I'll get to that Monday. Encroaching on 60 hours this week.
You made me feel dumb. That's just the general interface I'm used to. Never bothered trying any of the on-modem utilities. That's cool.
In the D3 FBC section, I pulled a mac out on that tab and logged into it. The forward spectrum is there. I would need a mib(?) to get the snmp community to pick that up, correct?
The spectrum tab for the reverse though, that's what I'm interested in more. Not seeing that on the modem itself.
Don't really get your question:
"I would need a mib(?) to get the snmp community to pick that up, correct?"
Do you want to know how to get the spectrum remotely via SNMP? Therefore this post could be helpfully: http://docsis.org/comment/6866#comment-6866
I've got the forward working from modem scanners on DG860's.
