So I'm the new guy to docsis. I have been learning some much in the last few weeks. One thing that I'm stuck on is the DHCP server.
I have a CMTS and 5 modem setup in my lab. But they are stuck in a init(d).
After doing some reading, I need to the DHCP server to assign IP address. The CMTS is on separate network so it can not reach the internet.
Is there a software that I can install on my Window7 machine that would do the DHCP IP assignment.

You need to understand that you need more than just a DHCP configuration. You need TFTP server in order to provide the config files for modems. Also you should use a special configuration in your DHCP config using groups or classes. Finally, you should take care on the routing table on your DHCP server in order to reach the CMTS subnets.
You need a DOCSIS Provisioning Server, like Javier said.
There is Free and paid provisioning software or you can build yourself.
Any free DOCSIS Provisioning Server you can recommend for newbie like us?

It is the most used os for network admin
If not, I guess you could have all the necessary services on a windows server 2003 or 2008
