I am reading on various MAC Domains like MD-CM-SG-ID , MD-US-SG-ID or MD-DS-SG-ID , but not able to understand these terms. If there is any easy explanation of what are they, why we need them, how they helps us actually.
Also how these can be works out from SNMP Perspective ?
MD-CM-SG-ID MAC Domain CM Service Group Id
MD-DS-SG-ID MAC Domain Downstream Service Group Id
MD-US-SG-ID MAC Domain Upstream Service Group Id
These have to do with the potential Bonding of multiple Downstream and upstreams
Basically it tells a modem which is registering on the system what downstreams and upstreams are associated with each other, i.e. you can lock on Downstreams A,B,C,D and transmit on Upstream E,F,G,H
Look at DOCS-IF3-MIB for how they relate to each other via snmp
