CISCO UBR10k12 monitor/count/control internal traffic (CPE-to-CPE)

Hi,
We have Cisco UBR10k12 with about 6k subscribers on it (DOCSIS 2.0) and we want to measure/control internal traffic between subscribers. Our config files already shaping with 8M down 1M up, but we need information how much traffic is generating inside the CMTS. And we need this info by modem.

Thanks in advance :)

You can do this with netflow,

The common way to count the traffic would be netflow, or less common way IPDR. Once a user is over a quota limit, you could use scripts to kick them onto a slower speed config file.

And/or if you want to do some dynamic control of high-bandwidth users, read up on Cisco's "Subscriber Traffic Management" feature.

Thank you

Thank you mbowe. Will try netflow.

I could bet that Subscriber

I could bet that Subscriber to Subscriber the traffic will be under 0.1%. A lot more is wasted due to DOCSIS headers and MPEG padding. Also note that you have a lot of DOCSIS management traffic (up to 5% I would guess).

I would not spend time monitoring that traffic, will make no sense to you if you have only one CMTS.
