yes

Per release notes for 5.3.1, srm3 PCA-0005-03 Rev: R2 and PCA-0005-04 REVA3
are the hardware rev's that would support the tx32

So I have to upgrade it to version 5.3.1?

My another way is the replace the SRM3 with SRM4.
But how can I change it without loosing the config file?

Best Regards, E.

tftp

you can copy a few ways, ftp, tftp, copy to flash and then move the flash card to the new srm.
tftp would be easier so you have a copy you can save in case it's needed in the future

In regards to software upgrade, it's always best to upgrade to address bugs or patches

Hi,

Hi,

Thank You.
I have one more question. Can I leave SRM3 in slot 7 and put SRM4 to slot 8?
And copy the running config to SRM4.

Regards, E.

temp

it's not recommended.. but if you only want to copy the startup-config and then remove it, it should be ok.
active srm3 in slot 7. put srm4 in slot 8. once slot 8 is in standby, do a copy run start. will sync to srm4 slot 8. then remove slot 8.
remove slot 7, put srm4 that was in slot 8 into slot 7. dir nvram: should have the 5.x software. when slot 8 is in standby, type in standby cli. this will take you to slot 8. dir nvram and confirm the software is the same as well as the size of the software image. exit and then bye will bring you back to srm slot 7
this will or course cause an outage

Yes, I only want to copy the

Yes, I only want to copy the startup-config and then remove it. I hope it will not damage the chassis or something else. What do you think?
What is the worst that could happen?

srm

the pins on the chassis would be the same, I've done what was sent once or twice in the past. like I said, not recommended, but will work.
worst that could happen.. slot 7 reboots and everyone goes down until it comes back up. 2nd possible issue you will run into is the srm4 in slot 8 doesn't have enough space in nvram or flash to copy over the files on the srm3. you'll need to delete some files to make room.
a spare chassis and using srm3 in slot 8 on the active chassis would be the least to cause an outage.
simply connect a laptop with tftp on it. copy the startup-config and software image to the laptop. when your ready to swap the srm3 to srm4, copy them back onto the srm4 during that maintenance window. I recommend https://www.ipswitch.com/resources/free-tools/whatsup-tftp-server (it doesn't time out with large files like some other tftp servers do

good luck

If you decide to upgrade to rx48's, TxPlus's (64 instead of 32 chnls) and srm10G's
Let me know
