Hi,
We have two CMTS, one configured to work for DOCSIS & other for Euro DOCSIS.
Can we club the network in one and migrate all DOCSIS customers to Euro DOCSIS or vice versa ?
What changes required to execute this migration?
Pl help.

Hi Robart
you can migrate from one to the other, but there's allot to consider and prepare for first.
downstream and upstream frequencies on the same cable plant; is there enough spectrum available for this? when you mix the two downstreams with different channel widths you'll get ctb issues. upstream 5-42 would be domestic and 45 to 65 would be euro.
you only have so many public ip addresses. you'll need to nat the second cmts until you've migrated some customers from one to the other and then migrate the public ip's and they become available. this can be tricky and time consuming
First step is to check if your cable modems support euro docsis
After you just need to change cmts config but change can be difficult if modems are not retrieving new frequencies for a long time (gold frequencies, wrong scan...) and maybe if you have ip dhcp issue (not clear for me)
if your increasing your upstream spectrum, why not just send modem file to enable current modems to support up to 85Mhz on return?
or do you need the additional downstream bandwidth that comes with Euro?
No issue on frequency allocation, spectrum is available. Any major configuration changed required in CMTS??
Also my worry is if the cable modems are compatible for both.
Any firmware upgradation required for cable modem??
if possible, configure one of your ports for Euro and test each modem on that port.
what state or country are you in?
