Hi
We recently started testing the pre-equalization in our cisco ubr10k
The SNR increase in some case was very good
But after a couple of days we started getting complains from customers that their modems were resetting
In all cases these were docsis 2 modems
We disabled the load-balancing feature and the trouble went away
We re-enable load-balancing and the trouble came back
We disabled pre-equalization and the trouble went away
Our guess is that when a modem changes upstream frequency the pre-equalization process fails for some reason and the modem just resets
have you ever seen this problem ?
is this a known fact ?
I read that a modem could lose some packets while doing the pre-eq after load-balancing but not going offline
Thanks
Patrick
Some D2 modems on very old firmware do not like pre-eq
What model modems are having problems, and what firmware do they have ?
If the firmware is old you can try pushing out updates
If you dont have access to updated firmware you can add config on the cmts to exclude these particular mac prefixes from pre-eq
Hi
for now we have seen this on arris cm550a
I have already asked arris for a firmware update
Il will look to exclude them on our next test
thanks
