Dear forum,
I want to split 8x DS into 4x DS (wideband) for D3.0 modems only and 4xDS (static load-balancing) for D2.0 modems only. I do not want that D2.0 register on the Primary Channel of any D3.0 DS and the opposite. How can I achieve this on the UBR-MC88V with just one bootfile covering all D2.0 and D3.0 modems?

Seems strange, not sure why you would want to do that ?
Anyway, some ideas......
What sort of modems do you have, 8x4 ?
You could setup 8 contiguous channels on the CMTS, make only the first 4 channels primary, then :
1/ create a bonding group that includes only the 2nd block of 4 channels.
That way all modems will register against the first 4 channels :
* D2 modems will ignore the 2nd 4
* D3 modems will get their timing/sync from the 1st 4, but all internet traffic via the 2nd 4.
or
2/ Create an 8 way bonding group but use the dynamic bandwidth sharing commands to tell the D3 modems not to put much traffic on the 1st 4.
Thanks a lot. We already use version 2, but I give version 1 a try. I did not know that D3.0 modems automatically switch to the bonding group and not just provision in D2.0 mode. We run an external QOS-System (limiting per SRC/DST-IP) and it's quite tricky to dynamically balance on a per DS-basis in case you have dynamic bandwidth sharing to avoid congestion on a single DS.

Thanks a lot for your answer. We already run version 2, I switched to version 1 and it works fine. I did not know, that a D3.0 modem use a bonding group when it's primary channel is outside the actual group. I thought it will register in D2.0 mode in this case.
We run an external QoS-System to avoid congestion. It's quite tricky to control per-DS bandwidth on a CPE-IP basis when you have mixed D2.0 and D3.0 modems on a single downstream.
