Hi,
We have this setup in our headend
UBR7246VXR with Internet on d1 and d2 cable modem avec Voice service on TM602. We had migrated all internet only on UBR10012 on 8 DS to use D3 features. Everything working fine. We keep TM602 on ubr7246VXR.
But, we always see TM602, trying to go on ubr10012 to log on, but have to stay in ubr7246VXR (Scan probably the frequency of ubr10012, before getting on UBR7246VXR.. and cause that trouble)
if there anyway to tell the ubr10012, to go see ubr7246VXR for theses TM602 modems voice..
thanks for your help!
Cable modem adresses should be in differet classes - say: 10.1.0.0/16 and 1.2.0.0/16 - tested, works :)
My company did this for years. We used 10ks for data and 7246's for voip, at almost 2 dozen different sites.
The easiest way to do it is to add the downstream frequency in the config files. That way, if an mta finds the data channel, it will come up on the data side, grab its config file, and from there it will drop off of the data ubr and show up on the voip cmts. The same for the data modems, if they show up on the voip cmts, they will register, grab the config file, (which of course now has a downstream frequency of the data ubr) and go over to the data ubr. It REALLY speeds up installs that way!
Wondering why cant you use the 10k for both? We do it with thousands of cm and mta, no drama.
In our case, our phone company originally wanted to keep internet users away from the mta's. (What can I say, they were not very tech savvy back then.) When approached with the cost of upgrading though, they changed their minds.
