Both actually. For whatever reason, Arris firmwares are impossible to get. I know people who have support contracts with Attis, but they contracts are only for NEW Arris products that they buy.
have fun getting any firmware upgrades for unsupported modem to go through, you need a valid CVC file .. which wont happen probably and if by luck it does you wont have access to set the firmware file to be requested in the config file OR by snmp due to not knowing the communities.
on a side note just got the TG2462 .. pretty bad ass MOFO.
Firmware can only be upgraded by the config or operator-end snmp commands. Comcast will have total control of it, and I do believe that Comcast runs a custom firmware on these Arris modems, so they're not going to change it unless they update their own copy of it.
You need to get a cpe support contract with arris. You can call their support line at 888-944-4357, and I'm sure they can point you in the right direction to get set up.
Can anyone help a brother out? We're all in this together against the bloated monster that is comcast.
Are you buying these? Or do you allow customers to BYO modem?

Comcast is the big evil enemy. I'm a private operator who buys these modems and uses them for my subs. How did end users get in here?
If you are buying them from Arris then Arris will supply you with firmware download access.
If you are buying them from an Arris distributor, then they should be able to source the firmware on your behalf.
If you are buying them from eg ebay, you are probably out of luck.
