Hello,
I have an Arris 1500 CMTS and I'm trying to connect to a bunch of Arris TM822G modems. They get to the registration success:

Then they just drop off line! No ranging missed or anything. They're just gone! They try again all day and nothing. The plant is clean. I'm pretty sure it's a CMTS config issue or a CM config file issue. I have TM402Gs and TM502Gs connected just fine. Could it be a problem with a DOCSIS 3.0 CM connecting to a DOCSIS 1.1 CMTS? No. I have TM722Gs connected at other sites to CMTS 1500s. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I'd be willing to pay for it.
Thanks,
Eric
Eric -
Just checking, ... do you have a tftp server ON.
Best, ... Lee.
Are you using the same CM config file for TM722 and TM822? If not, try this.
Do you have much "extra" stuff in the CM config file? Try stripping it down to basics (network access on, global privacy on, one upstream flow, one downstream flow, nothing else)
If still no luck, I would do the following to find out why the modem is resetting :
* Plug a laptop into a TM822
* Browse to http://192.168.100.1
* Go to Advanced menu
* Enter Arris Password Of The Day (PWOD)
* Browse to http://192.168.100.1/techsupport.htm
* Enable telnet, and enter PWOD
* Telnet to 192.168.100.1, and enter PWOD
* Watch this console while the modem registers (or go to system -> buffer) to look at historical logs. By default the telnet will give you the basic troubleshooting logs. This should be sufficient to see why the modem i'snt happy. More detail can be enabled if you need it (you probably wont).
I was right. It was a modem config file issue. I put in a basic docsis 1.0 file and it worked. Then I worked up and added the "toys" i needed. (SNMP, turn off the usb port, disable the password, etc...) I hope this helps someone someday.
Thanks,
Eric
