Arris C3 fan question

Hello All,

I have some Arris C3's in some pretty remote locataions and need to know if the fans are dying. I've found this:

dcxFPDFan1Status OBJECT-TYPE
SYNTAX INTEGER
{
rotating (1),
badRotating (2)
}
MAX-ACCESS read-only
STATUS current
DESCRIPTION
"Specifies the fan status for the fan nearest the front of the box.
The following values are possible:
Rotating(1) and BadRotating(2).
BadRotating is set when the fan is operating outside of dcxFPDFanUpperLimit and dcxFPDFanLowerLimit."
::= { dcxFPDControlGroup 8 }

dcxFPDFanUpperLimit OBJECT-TYPE
SYNTAX Integer32 (0..255)
MAX-ACCESS read-write
STATUS current
DESCRIPTION
"Specifies the upper fan limit(Upper threshold of expected current draw)"
::= { dcxFPDControlGroup 14 }

dcxFPDFanLowerLimit OBJECT-TYPE
SYNTAX Integer32 (0..255)
MAX-ACCESS read-write
STATUS current
DESCRIPTION
"Specifies the lower fan limit(Lower threshold of expected current draw)"
::= { dcxFPDControlGroup 15 }

I've read those SNMP keys and get either a 1 for good or 2000, 2200, 2400 or 2600. Can anyone interprete these bad values starting will a "2" and tell me if I need to get new fans. When I look at the actual device, everything appears to be fine.

Thanks,

Capm
fan rpm/voltage

The second two mibs set the upper and lower thresholds for the fans current draw, the first mib states when the current draw is within those parameters or not ( 1=inside/good 2=outside/bad)

... at least, I think thats how those worked, its been a while...

... C3 Fans ...

You bet they're failing. ARRIS used sub-standard mini-fans with cheap ball-bearings. The fan life has averaged 3 1/2 yrs. I worked there and we/they knew, after the fact. Fairly cheap to replace all 6 with even top-of-the-line fans.
