We have ARRIS TM402G modems that were used strictly as data modems until now. Now, we have launched VOIP. To get access to the latest SIP firmware and support, we bought a few new modems from ARRIS and got access to their portal that provide the latest SIP images. That has worked fine for us so far but we have come across a new problem which the ARRIS site cannot resolve for us.
We found that images that are 5.x and higher (doesn't matter if they are SIP or Packetcable) can be upgraded to the latest SIP image. However, really old Packetcable images 4.x will NOT take the upgrade. We found out why from the ARRIS support site, the provisioning guide states:
Upgrading from NCS to SIP Loads
Customers upgrading from TS4.4.20 or earlier NCS-based versions of Touchstone firmware to a TS4.5 or newer SIP-based release must first
upgrade to TS4.4.20 or a newer release (either NCS- or SIP-based) as an intermediate step before upgrading to a newer SIP load.
Note: ARRIS recommends using either TS4.4.28B or TS4.4.41 as the intermediate load (both loads are NCS-based), especially if you plan for any
delays between the intermediate release and the final SIP release.
Their firmware support site only goes back 2 years in terms of firmware images and the two recommended images (TS4.4.28B or TS4.4.41) are no longer on the ARRIS website and nowhere to be found on the Web.
Can someone please email me either image? We need this urgently as we've discovered a large percentage of our modems have Packetcable 4.1.x images that need one of these intermediate images so we can eventually upgrade to the latest SIP image.
