Ubr7246VXR input/output errors

So .. I have like .. tons of errors on input/output on the FA interface .. also input errors on the cable interfaces .. and same thing on the catalyst switch to which 2 VXR's are connected... the FA's in the ubr's are in halfduplex mode because they'd work like crap if in full duplex .. I think because it wouldn't face the traffic ?:| .. currently I have 2 ubr's with the cable interfaces ( with 6 upstreams ) all of them having > 50 && < 200 users .. ( I could post real numbers if needed ) ... what should I paste to help ya' guys help me figure out what the heck is wrong and fix the errors/collisions and make the card work in fullduplex .. and also fix the high cpu usage ( ubr's are only used to translate from cable to fa .. nothing else.. ) ..

replace the cable, manually

replace the cable, manually set speed, duplex(full!) and disable crossover detection functions on both sides.

That should at least get over the fa errors .. I doubt it'll get rid of the cable interface errors ...

No output errors on cable interfaces so problem lies with upstream channels - chceck SNR/Modulation and correctable and uncorrectable error counts -> sh int cable X/Y upstream Z

Avg 21 -22 SNR on QPSK

Avg 21 -22 SNR on QPSK upstreams may be causing this jf you have big variations in snr on per modem basis i.e. one modem has upstream snr 10 and other has 30.
Try changing upstream frequency above 30MHz. Even amplifiers with max 30MHz upstream will allow modems to work on 30MHz .

Btw: isn't 0,8MHz channel to narrow for 80 modems?! Maybe you just overloaded them? From my experience max 100-125modems per 3,2MHz QPSK channel(it still sux! latency is 50ms)

Try blocking any traffic except ipv4 and arp/rarp - it should handle unknown protocols errors.

Wider Channel Widths May Degrade SNR

Changing to wider channel widths may lower the SNR. The wider the channel the more noise into the receiver. A 3200 khz channel width may take the SNR down in the mid teens....

I think you should try to understand how badly the uncorrectable codewords are incrementing. The statistics can be cleared and you can monitor to see how fast they are incrementing.
