Hello . I am confused about what a logging command does , I think it does 4 things
-It specifies what messages are shown in a console terminal
-it specifies the size and type of messages saved on the log of the BSR (shown with sh log)
-it specifies what messages saved on the BSR´s log are sent to a Syslog application considering the severity level
-it forwards snmp-traps to a server wich contains the application call syslog.
I have this configuration
ROUTER:8A#sh run | i snmp
snmp-server engineid local 80001375030030b8cdd60000
snmp-server context
snmp-server community rw 1

Which would be the difference between logging trap informational and logging snmp-trap notifications, arent all the traps snmp-traps ?
Is there the need to specified a snmp-server host ? Syslog server just listen to traps and messages, doesnt pool the BSR.
I will appreciate that any person could help me to understand better this matter. Thank you in advanced.
Email me a show chassis stat, show cab modem sum total and show run. I'll send you a sample config and docs so you know what's best for your system. logging informational will log everything going on in the system. sometimes that's too much info and depends on what's happening and logging size, it can eat up cpu time. snmp traps can be set for different things, like modems flapping. log will just show them register and deregister. you do need to configure the snmp server, syslog server
