Dear All,
I am having a problem as described below, maybe someone experienced can help with this:
CMTS: Harmonic NSG EXO (16x4 D3.0)
Modems: Motorola SB5101i (D2.0) and SB6120 (D3.0)
IPTV STBs are connected to the ethernet ports of the modems for IPTV testing.
All the modems come online fine:
CM MAC CM IP NUM CM DOC BOND DS CHAN US CHAN
ADDRESS ADDRESS CPE STATE VER ACT LIST LIST

Command Total: 3 CM 2 CPE 0 EMTA 0 GEN
The problem I am facing is:
- With D3.0 modems, IPTV always works
- With D2.0 modems, IPTV sometimes works and most of the time it doesn't
SB5101i firmware is the latest: SB5101-2.12.2.2-GA-00-761-NOSH-NNDMN (December 2015)
Is there a special setting (i.e. SNMP, CM config) etc. for D2.0 modems to enable multicast? The cable modem config file is attached.
Note: We tested the same scenario with an old CMTS (Arris Cadant C3) and multicast always worked with D2.0 modems.
Thank you for your time in advance.
Perhaps it has nothing to do with multicast, and instead more to do with which DS are carrying which groups ?
D3 modems always work because they are bonding all DS ?
D2 modems sometimes work if they happen to be connected to the right DS ?
My guess this is a CMTS config issue rather than anything to do with the modem. Perhaps the C3 was configured OK but the Exo not.
Thanks for the great suggestion. I shutdown all the DSs and USs except D0 and U0. Now IPTV works well on multiple D2.0 modems at the same time. Of course in normal operation I will need all 16DS/4US to be enabled.
Therefore it's either config issue or a bug in the CMTS. There is not much to configure on the CTMS though. I have attached the working config.
I have already informed Harmonic support, let's see what they will come up with.
