Are there any drawbacks to having CMTSs from multiple vendors operating in the same network; in the same headend?
Is this a common scenario at large MSOs?
For example, if an MSO makes a purchasing decision to write their next big checks to Arris instead of Cisco, do those C4s play nicely with the 10Ks already there or do fork-lift swaps happen at certain headends?
Thx
Hi,
I think this is a kind of the own principles of the MSO. First the Provisioning should work together with the different vendors. The next is the difference from the splitting/combining network in the headend for the various CMTS because there could different ratios between the Downstream/Upstream possible per MAC-Domain an the Linecards.
At my company we have two Vendors but only the same Vendor on the same location. If the MSO has a size reached it is better for the Operation to know the location and then the location have the same Vendor.
This are just my 2 Cents ;)

P.S. Sorry for my poor english ;)
