Hello All
I installed a CMTS with DOCSIS 2.0 and Asterisk 1.4, and I would add the PacketCable network in my cable for voip sip, I would like to know the best architecture and what I need to integrate asterisk and PacketCable
Please I await your help.

To avoid the cost and
To avoid the cost and complexity of a full packetcable provisioning system you could look at EMTA which have simplified voice provisioning options.
For example you could use Arris TM4XX or TM5XX or TM6XX. These models allow you to have one config file per MTA based on the MTA MAC address (it's called "GUPI MAC Encrypted"). And the EMTA uses DSX-QoS / DQoS-lite to automatically setup/tear down the voice flows on the CMTS.
Configure the EMTA to talk to your Asterisk server using SIP.
Other brands like Cisco and Motorola have simplified methods as well. Or you could even look at PacketCable BASIC.1 provisioning. However the gotcha in these cases is the MTA config file is not encrypted on the TFTP server which is a security worry.
ClearCable
We have a voice service launched with this setup, been running for a few years now. www.clearcable.ca have a support contract with us and they just provide everything so it's a turn key operation for us.
Trash the packetcable idea
Hi,
SIP is the way to go. I've helped dozens of people on the forum get up and running and start making money. Us a CMTS that is at least DOCSIS 1.1, Asterisk with SIP and the Arris TMXXX series. You'll be glad you did. I've been using it on my own systems since 2004. If you can't figure it out from all of the information on this fourm, let me know and I can help you out for a fee.

I'm attempting to do the same thing and have a few Q's. Does your consulting offer still stand?
