Limit the number of CMs in Arris C3

Hello,

is there a Way to configure on Arris C3 the max number of CMs, that allow to use the one DS?

thanks
Christian

doesn't matter

it's a docsis 2.0 cmts, so 38Mb is about max downstream shared bandwidth after docsis overhead.
it comes down to what the modems get for download speeds, not the total number of modems. so one modem with a modem file that gives it 35Mb download speeds leave almost nothing for the rest of the modems.
the only benefit of 2.0 over 1.1 is upstream channel width and modulation. other than that, it's only good for about a dozen customers all trying to use zoom

Hi,

Hi,

this is clear.
I have another CMTS in same Cluster with another DS and US Channel.
CMS should use this when other CMTS is full.
not possible?

two in one

With you have two C3's on the same cable plant. if that's the case, I would recommend doing it in the modem file.
specify the downstream frequency in the modem file and have modem A use file with the 1st downstream frequency and modem file B use the 2nd downstream frequency. it's a pain to do, but the only way that I know of to tell a modem to use a certain cmts to keep them separated.
moving onto a docsis 3.0 cmts with 8 channel bonding for example would be able to support what both support now as well as allow you to increase speeds
