IPTV - multicast

Hello,

i am testing CASA C40g and multicast setup..

i see mcasts are on qam/ofdm interface.. but i cannot see them behind cable modem.
I have mcast grroup defined in cable modem config file. Actually that config file worked ubr7200 setup.

Any idea where could be a problem? are there any extra settings for casa cmts?

you should be able to do some

you should be able to do some igmp and/or PIM debugging on the casa. I'd be looking to see if the IGMP messaging is occurring on the casa. make sure you have IGMP configured on the incoming interface + possibly the cable interface as well.

I see multicast traffic:

I see multicast traffic:
239.0.0.0/192.168.192.210
Incoming Interface: gige 2/0
Outgoing Interface List: qam 0
239.0.0.1/192.168.192.210
Incoming Interface: gige 2/0
Outgoing Interface List: qam 0
239.0.0.2/192.168.192.210
Incoming Interface: gige 2/0
Outgoing Interface List: qam 0
Total entries : 3
I also see mcast packets on QAM are going out..
but i cannot see multicast packet behind cable modem.. i have defined IP multicast profile in cable modem config.
Should i define anything else for multicast in config file?

Best regards,S

If the multicast you're

If the multicast you're trying to receive is for tv I'd imagine you'd be trying this with a set top box, correct? I'm not sure where the cable modem falls into the setup you're working on. For DOCSIS.. set tops which are running DSG will have an embedded cable modem that is used for sending and receiving the multicast.

laptop test

If you connect a laptop behind the cable modem, using vlc, options connect to stream, then add the multicast address and udp port, do you see the video? example udp://@224.0.100.27:1234
you will need to setup dsg for the set top box, but if strictly multicast, you should be able to join the stream and view it with vlc
