Are you asking how many

Are you asking how many modems you can connect?

Or how many of each bonding group you can create?

Or something else?

Hi Mbowe

Hi Mbowe

I looked for many of each bonding group you can create
8x4 ( I think is 120 but not sure) PRE5 SPA6G mc3gx60v
or
16x4
or
24x4

mbowe
This one isnt possible

> 8x SPA24DS
> PRE4
> 8x UBR-MC3GX60V

This one isnt possible, you havent left any slots for ethernet uplink...
Probably need to drop to 6 x SPA24XDS to leave room for 2 x 10GE cards
Or upgrade to PRE5

oops Yes

oops Yes

I mean

6x SPA24DS
6 PRE4
8x UBR-MC3GX60V

I looked at similar upgrade

I looked at similar upgrade choices last year

In the end we decided it wasn't worth investing more money our ubr10k gear. Was cheaper to just turn the ubr10k's off and replace with cBR8 !

Some of the reasons to consider the cBR8 include :
* ubr10k at end of life with no more hardware or software features. cbr8 at start of life with lots of features to come.
* cBR8 consumes much less rack space
* cBR8 has much less RF cabling (eg 96 DS per cable, 16 US per cable). Wire once when initially deploy, don't need to rewire when upgrading capacity.
* ubr10k with edgeqam requires a timing server. Microsemi is the dominant supplier of the DTI gear and they discontinued their Timecreator product in 2016
* cBR8 supports DOCSIS 3.1
* cBR8 has company-wide shared license pool compared to the restrictive linecard-locked licenses on ubr10k
* If you buy 3G60 etc linecards from brokers, even though they will usually include working licenses, you are not allowed to use them. You are meant to repurchase the licenses from Cisco. And if you do that you may as well just buy the card new
* At low end spec, the cBR8 can be bought for similar $ to the ubr10k. As you grow the capacity the ubr10k becomes massively more expensive than equivalent cBR8

Depend if you have annex B or

Depend if you have annex B or A. If B then we could make some magic, but for sure you will not be able to hit 72SG 24DS per box - at least not without hiting limitation and oversubscription in internal architecture of the ubr10k. Also you should be able to update the 3G SPA to 6G SPA. Don't know you HE arch. For maximal number of SG that request and bandwidth you request, you would need 2 more chassis in every location. I understand your goal but this quite a concept you planning to make- it could be done... but if it worth ? :)
