Need to see your upstream

Need to see your upstream configurations. Please provide output from "sh run int cable 5/0"

But general tips for fast uploads would be :
* Set the US channel-width as wide as possible, eg 6.4 with fallback to 3.2
* Set the US modulation-profile as high as possible, eg 64QAM with fallback to 16QAM
* Double the default US minislot-size (eg 6.4 width defaults to 1, so change it to 2)
* Increase the US max-burst of the modem to something large like 28000

modulation profile

Thinking the problem was US SNR. I backed off from this mod profile to the second. I saw no change. This unit is in production. Was using 224 then backed off to 16qam only in 225.

Try these

* Try setting the modulation-profile to 224 225
* If you are running 3.2 width, change the default minislot-size from 2 to 4
* Increase the service-flow max-burst from 4000 to something large like 28000

SNR

The one post that showed an SNR of 25.x, but it changes and varies from one port to another. check the uncorrectables 3 or 4 times and see how much the value changes. good indicator the mod profile should be changed
my golden run for SNR and mod profile is
qpsk snr 18 and higher
16qam snr 21 and higher
32qam snr 25 and higher
64qam snr 28 and higher

Hope this helps

Test results

I now have better uploads I switched back to mod profile 224 and adjusted minislots. The key i think is the burst rate from 4000 to 28000. Correct me if i am wrong the mod profile is negotiated based on signal quality. Can i not build a profile that will check up to 64Qam and set a modem to a level that works for it. So on the same US i can have modems at different compression rates? I have US 3 and 4 wired but the levels were below 25 24.xx will adding these US with a lower level of compression still expand the upload rate. Right now i am ok with what i have now. Test at 19mbs for upload. Thanks.

No the modulation is per-upstream, not per-modem

You can set the upstream to have multiple profiles/widths, and the CMTS will apply rules and dynamically switch if conditions are poor

eg
cable upstream X modulation-profile 224 225 226
cable upstream X channel-width 6400000 3200000

Or if you don't want to use dynamic switching, you could examine your levels and manually set different upstreams to different width/modulations. For example noise is usually worse at lower frequencies, so you could set your lower upstreams to 16QAM and the higher frequency ones to 64QAM. Best bet is to use a graphing app like MRTG to monitor the USSNR, correctables, uncorrectables etc

Upstream situation.

Very good info this has helped immensely I am going to let the current setting settle in to make sure it will stay in place.Thanks -Scot

Glad to hear its working for you

Oh, and one other tip...

If you start playing with 3x and 4x US bonding, to get best speeds you will likely need to add following commands to the mac domain (interface cable 5/0) :

cable sid-cluster-group num-of-cluster 2
cable sid-cluster-switching max-request 4
